Ho-Ho-Hold Up On That Third Cookie! 🎄 A few tips on moderation through the holidays💪

Untitled design 91

Here we go, DSC family! The holiday season is here and it’s time for some real talk about treating your self and moderation.

You know that feeling – you’re at your fifth holiday party of the season, staring down a dessert table that’s more stacked than our dumbbell rack. Your inner voice is doing more back-and-forth than a set of burpees: “I should be good” vs “But it’s the HOLIDAYS!”

Here’s the thing, career and family juggling superstars: You’re already juggling more plates than the Rogue invitational. (Speaking of plates, let’s talk about filling them…)

The 80/20 Rule: Because Nobody Got Fit From Stressing About Stuffing

You’re already managing kids’ schedules, aging parents, work deadlines, AND making it to the gym. You deserve a sugar cookie, for crying out loud! The key is finding that sweet spot (pun absolutely intended) between “holiday spirit” and “holy spiraling.”

Think of moderation like our workout modifications – it’s not about making things “easier,” it’s about making them SMARTER. Just like we don’t expect you to skip the press when your wrist is wonky (we modify!), we don’t expect you to skip Aunt Martha’s legendary pecan pie. It’s all about the game plan.

Your Holiday Eating Strategy (No Equipment Required!)

  1. Pre-game Like a Pro Don’t arrive at parties hangry. Have a protein-packed snack before you go. Consider it your nutritional warm-up!
  2. The Plate Matrix Remember how we scale workouts? Scale your plate! Fill half with veggies, quarter with protein (turkey, not just turkey-shaped cookies), and quarter with those holiday treats that make life worth living.
  3. Rest Between Sets… Er, Parties Just like we don’t front squats every day (you’re welcome), try to space out your holiday indulgences. Your body needs recovery time from both burpees AND butter cookies.

The “But It’s Just One Month!” Myth

Look, we get it. Just like that one member who thought they could make up for a month of absence with one intense workout (you know who you are! 😉), you can’t store up all your year’s worth of treats for December.

Remember: The goal isn’t to white-knuckle your way through the holidays like you’re hanging from the pull-up bar. It’s about finding balance – something our you all already practice while juggling your busy lives!

Your Permission Slip to Enjoy (Yes, Really!)

Ever heard one of the DSC coaches say “form over speed”? Apply that to your holiday eating. Slow down. Savor. Enjoy those special treats mindfully. You don’t need to PR your cookie consumption just because it’s December.

And if you do overindulge? Tomorrow is another day. Just like we’re here to help modify that workout when your knee is cranky, we’re here to help you get back on track without the guilt spiral.

The Bottom Line

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, not survived. You’re the same rockstar who makes it to 6 AM classes and manages to remember soccer cleats, work presentations, AND your parents’ doctor appointments. Trust us – you can handle a few cookies without derailing your fitness journey.

Besides, that’s what January’s “New Year, New PR” challenge is for! (Kidding… mostly 😉)

Stay strong, stay balanced, and remember – life is too short for bad cookies. Save those calories for the good stuff!

P.S. We still have a some Black Friday Jumpstart packages left.
