If you’ve noticed more conversations about running, sleds, and something called HYROX around the gym lately, you’re not imagining it.
We’re excited to officially share that Dynamic Strength & Conditioning is now a HYROX Affiliated Gym.
As always, this wasn’t a decision we made lightly—or quickly. At DSC, we don’t chase trends. We look at whether something aligns with our values, our coaching standards, and the long-term health of our members.
So let’s start with the basics.
What Is HYROX?

HYROX is a global indoor fitness race that blends endurance running with functional strength training in a standardized format.
Every race, no matter where it’s held, follows the same structure:
- 8 x 1 km runs
- Each run is followed by a functional workout station
Those stations include movements like:
- Ski erg
- Sled push
- Sled pull
- Burpee broad jumps
- Farmer’s carries
- Lunges
- Wall balls
There are no surprise workouts, no max lifts, and no complex technical skills. Instead, HYROX challenges your aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, pacing, and mental resilience.
Why HYROX Fits Within the DSC Philosophy

HYROX isn’t something everyone needs to do it’s and it’s definately not “better” than other ways of training.
What we appreciate about HYROX is that it aligns well with how we already coach at DSC:
- Building fitness that supports life, not just events
- Developing strength and endurance together
- Progressing gradually and intentionally
- Respecting recovery
- Using goals and challenges as motivation—not pressure
For some members, HYROX offers a clear, exciting target to train toward. For others, it may simply be interesting to learn about. Both are great!
DSC Coaches + HYROX Education
Becoming a HYROX Affiliated Gym means committing to education and experience—not just putting a logo on the website.
Here’s what that looks like for us:
- Coach Jake has already competed in a HYROX race
- Coaches Jake, Renee, and Carla are completing their HYROX coaching certifications
- Our coaching team is aligned on how HYROX-style training fits into smart, long-term programming
We’re also walking the walk.
Renee, Carla, Beth, Kaylen—and I will all be competing at HYROX Miami in April.
Not because we think everyone should race—but because we believe it’s important to understand the demands of the event firsthand. That experience helps us coach with more clarity, empathy, and perspective.
How DSC Approaches HYROX Training

One thing we want to share, especially if you’re newer to DSC:
Our approach to HYROX training is the same approach we’ve always used here.
We didn’t overhaul our programming or shift our philosophy because of a race. Instead, HYROX simply gives some members a specific goal to train toward—using the same principles that guide everything we do.
That looks like:
- Gradual running progressions that respect joints, tissues, and recovery
- Strength training that supports durability and confidence—not just exhaustion
- Aerobic work that builds capacity without leaving you feeling run down
- Coaches who help you scale, pace, and listen to your body
- Programming that supports performance goals while still prioritizing longevity
If you’ve trained at DSC for any length of time, you’re likely already building many of the qualities HYROX requires—whether you ever plan to race or not.
The event is optional but our commitment to thoughtful training is not.
What This Means for Our Members

Whenever something new is introduced, it’s natural to wonder what it means for you.
So here’s the simple answer:
Your classes aren’t changing.
You don’t have to run.
You don’t have to sign up for HYROX.
DSC will continue to be:
- A place where all fitness levels are welcome
- A place where movements are scaled appropriately
- A place where health, confidence, and consistency come first
HYROX is an opportunity—not a requirement. If it excites you, we’re here to guide you. If it doesn’t, you’ll continue getting exactly what you came to DSC for: smart coaching, supportive community, and training that helps you feel better in your body.
Staying the Course

Becoming a HYROX Affiliated Gym is simply another way we’re continuing to support our community—through education, experience, and thoughtful coaching.
Whether your goals involve racing in Miami, getting stronger for everyday life, or just showing up consistently and feeling good, we’re proud to be on that journey with you.
And as always, we’ll meet you right where you are.
Not sure where to start in the new year? That’s exactly why the 42 Strong challenge exists.
The 42 Strong New Year Challenge isn’t about extremes, perfection, or doing more—it’s about doing the right things consistently, with support from coaches who meet you where you are.
If you want structure, guidance, and a plan that actually feels doable, this is for you.
